OHoops Quote of the Week

Quote of the Week
“Come in as a team, leave as a family.”
Players on a team many times lose sight of what is really important. The game itself is usually what’s thought of first, with the practice and repetition and the game time execution… but often overlooked is the camaraderie that you share with teammates. The tough games, the hard losses, the road trips that create bonding experiences between each other – these are the memories that will last forever. The relationships that are established when playing a team sport are what you remember the most after it’s all over. Not only that, but if you build strong relationships with your teammates off the field it gives you chemistry with one another, allows you to enjoy the game more, and your quality of play will rise when everyone is on the same page. When you’re on top your teammates on top, and when you are at the bottom, your teammates are right there with you. The moment you step on or off the court, field, etc. you should be able to call your teammates your family.

Quote of the Week

OHoops Quote of the Week

A setback or obstacle in life is simply an opportunity for a great comeback! It could be the moment you finally promote yourself to the world!

No matter where you are in your life or who you are surrounded by, there will always be setbacks. You will stumble, you will make mistakes, you will lose, and you will fall hard! How will you get back up? Look at it in 2 ways… either you can allow it to bring you down with it and accept failure, or you can use it as a stepping stone for an amazing comeback! If you fall back 1 step, jump forward 5 steps. Use these obstacles as motivation to flourish and rise up in your life! Not only in your life, but in your family, in your community, in your extended circles, in the world! Make a statement with your comeback; let everyone know you will not be taken down without a fight and if you do get knocked down, not only will you just get back up, but you will leap up with confidence and dexterity. Prove to the world, if you haven’t done so yet, that you were born with a purpose, you have special gifts, and nobody else has what you have to offer!

Meet the OHoops Professors

OHoops Professor:
Coach Alfredo "Noodle" Williams
Age: 24
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 175 lbs
High School: Lake Howell - Class of '08
College: Tennessee Temple - Division 2
Twitter: @OHoopsNoodle
Instagram: @ItsNoodleBaby

Coach Noodle started his career at Lake Howell High School playing along side some of the best players to come out of the state of FL - Chandler Parsons (Houston Rockets) & Nick Calathes (Memphis Grizzles). He was moved up to varsity as a Sophomore and won a state championship in 2006 and 2007. He was one of Lake Howell's top players his senior year and was offered a scholarship to play ball at the Tennessee Temple University in Nashville, TN. Coach Noodle played for 1 season at TTU, then decided to come back to Orlando to pursue a music career.
Alfredo's first passion is basketball, but a close second is his love for music. Once back in Orlando, Noodle got with some of his close friends and formed a group called Team Takeoff. Since then Team Takeoff has been successful in the Orlando area and their music has been played all over Florida. Orlando Hoops decided to bring Coach Noodle on as a trainer in the Summer of 2012 after watching him play in an Adult Summer League game. OHoops realized he was too good of a player not to be either playing basketball professionally or teaching younger kids the game. Once on the staff, he became a quick favorite of a lot of the young OHoopers due to his natural ability to make kids laugh and feel comfortable in the Lab.Noodle is a great athlete with unbelievable hands and an amazing ability to finish anything around the basket! Although, if you ask anyone, they will tell you his best attributes to the game are his defensive skills.
Off the court, Alfredo of course loves his music and spends a lot of time in the studio. Other than that, he makes it a point to teach his younger brother and perfecting his game, while also being there for his fiance who is pregnant with their first daughter - Ashmarie.

OHoops Quote of the Week

Quote of the Week:
"Don't go through life letting other people control you. You have a destiny to fulfill. Be bold and take control of your own life." - Joel Osteen

At every point in your life, there will be people who doubt you, who turn you down, who try to guide you down the wrong path, who will try to take advantage of you, or just straight up don't like you and will do everything in their power to bring you down. Although, at the moment it may be difficult to realize, these are opportunities presented to you in disguise. This can be the moment in your life that you finally say "I WILL NOT LET ANYONE BRING ME DOWN, I CONTROL WHERE I GO FROM HERE!" You have to believe it and let it motivate yourself to do better. Every time someone tells you you can't do something, that is just one more reason why you will do it! Believe that, commit to it, and make it a goal to prove those people wrong, while at the same time begin to take control of where your future brings you. Everyone has a destiny, it is up to you if you want someone else to choose it for you or make a decision to control & create your own destiny. #OHoopsBelieves

Meet the OHoops Professors

OHoops Professor Rickey Claitt
Height: 6’ 2”
Weight: 185 lbs
Age: 26 yrs old
Coach Rickey Claitt graduated from Edgewater High School in 2005, after finishing putting together an impressive career with The Edgewater Hoop Squad. Rickey played varsity as a sophomore, junior, and senior. His junior year, playing alongside Darius Washington – McDonald’s All American and Florida’s Mr. Basketball – helped bring his team to the State Finals for the second year straight, where they came away victorious. Rickey went into his senior year as one of the top recruited players in Central FL. He decided to play basketball in Missouri for one of the top J-Co’s in the nation – Mineral Area College. His 2nd year he was an All-American and transferred to Oregon State. He started both his Junior and Senior for the Beavers. After graduating with a degree in Speech Communication, Rickey played 3 years of pro basketball, 2 in Denmark’s top league, where he was named to the All-Import team, and 1 in Germany.
After his pro career Rickey joined the OHoops Team, where he had been training most of his life. OHoops was more than excited to have Coach Rickey finally join up with them and bring his basketball abilities and expertise to the table. One characteristic about Rickey that make him such a great trainer, beyond his physical abilities, is that he has an uncanny ability to relate to every player that walks into the Lab..
Off the court, OHoops Professor Rickey is happily married and spends a lot of his time with his wife. He loves to play video games in his spare time, and is amazing NBA 2k player, with an unbelievable undefeated record! His passion is basketball, but uses his knowledge and abilities to pass that on to the next generation of players.

Quote of The Week

"In the end we are all products of the decisions we have made throughout our lives."

Every decision you make will define you. Not necessarily at that moment, because not all choices we make are the right ones, but it's what you learn from the wrong ones that molds you into the person you want to become. Think about every choice you make before making it - sometimes there isn't a correct choice, but many times its not the actual decision you make, its what you gain from it and how you bounce back is what builds your character. The path to success is NEVER a straight one. #OHoopsBelieves
