Quote of the Week

"If you've never experienced failure, you have severely underestimated your own abilities."

Granted, sometimes certain things come easier to some people then to others. However, here at OHoops, we are firm believers that the most successful people are those that fail most frequently.  There are numerous quotes by the legends and heroes all throughout sports history talking about how many times they've failed. However, if they gave up after a few failed opportunities, they wouldn't be recognized as the best of the best. The only justifiable excuse one can ever make to stop failing is to finally succeed.  Yea, we can all just give up.  But that's easy.  That's the cowards way out.  That's the ultimate failure; Never trying again.  If you've coasted through life up to this point then it probably means that you haven't set the bar high enough.  You haven't challenged yourself enough.  But the truth is, you won't truly experience the essence of success until you know what it feels like to fail over and over again. Don't underestimate yourself. Believe in yourself.  Set your goals high, and then climb even higher.

Motivated Monday

"If he never got up, he'd still be called a hero.

And if he hadn't stepped back on to the court, he'd still be a Hall of Famer.

And if he didn't hit those free throws, he would still go down in basketball history.

And if he never came back to the game, he'd be a living legend.

But he wouldn't be Kobe Bryant." - Nike Basketball

OHoops has received word that our application has been accepted by Guinness and our video is under review! About two months ago, Coach Gerrod Trytten unofficially broke the 5 year long record of most NBA 3 pointers in 60 seconds right here at Orlando Hoops. The video was previously featured on ESPN's SportsNation, Dime Magazine, and Bleacher Report, and now Coach G's hard work and huge accomplishment may finally be recognized as an official Guiness World Record! Keep checking in to find out the final news!

HUGE shout out to Point 3 Basketball for providing Coach G with a pair of the World's Best Basketball Shorts on his journey to breaking a World Record!

OHoops Quote of the Week

“It’s not the will to win that matters—everyone has that. It’s the will to prepare to win that matters.”

It’s no secret that some athletes have a natural born talent that others don’t, but that talent will only take one so far. What ultimately separates a champion from a talented athlete is the preparation he put in to succeed. It’s not just going hard during practice that is going to get you to where you want to be, but the willingness to do more. Champions are the ones that are up with the sun to work out. They get to practice early and stay later than everyone else. For a champion, preparation never ends.  They never miss out on an opportunity to make themselves better, whether it be on the court, field, etc. or off. No matter what team you’re playing for or against, you will come across at least one of those gifted athletes, and at first, it will be intimidating. But the more you work, the more confident you will be in the fact that you are more prepared than the rest. Championships aren’t a contest of who can run the fastest or jump the highest. Championships are about those individuals, and the team, that have PREPARED themselves to emerge victorious.
