“It’s not the will to win that matters—everyone has that. It’s
the will to prepare to win that matters.”
It’s no secret that some athletes
have a natural born talent that others don’t, but that talent will only take
one so far. What ultimately separates a champion from a talented athlete is the
preparation he put in to succeed. It’s not just going hard during practice that
is going to get you to where you want to be, but the willingness to do more.
Champions are the ones that are up with the sun to work out. They get to
practice early and stay later than everyone else. For a champion, preparation
never ends. They never miss out on an
opportunity to make themselves better, whether it be on the court, field, etc.
or off. No matter what team you’re playing for or against, you will come across
at least one of those gifted athletes, and at first, it will be intimidating.
But the more you work, the more confident you will be in the fact that you are
more prepared than the rest. Championships aren’t a contest of who can run the
fastest or jump the highest. Championships are about those individuals, and the
team, that have PREPARED themselves to emerge victorious.
